Engagement Ring Returned
Have you ever lost something important to you and never thought you would see it again? What if you could get it back? A La Crosse woman was reunited with the diamond ring she lost nearly 10 years ago. While bowling at River City Lanes in April of 1997, Lucy Bruring had a little mishap.
"My left hand came down like this and all of my rings fell off. My wedding band and engagement ring were soldered together, it fell in front of me, and my anniversary ring went flying."Bruring says she started to cry and began to think the worst."I thought I'd never find it."Recently, Charlotte's Bridal Shop bought the building and workers were renovating the inside when they were told of the misfortune that happened so long ago.
"We had been laughing and joking, like hey did you find the diamond yet?" says Shannon Carey of Charlotte’s Bridal.Well, as luck would have it…"We were cleaning up after all the lanes were removed and we were sweeping just a bunch of garbage up and it was sitting on a board almost perfectly clean."Soon after, the phone was ringing at Lucy's house with a surprise."I couldn't believe it. I said, what did you say?"Shock was felt on both ends."What are the odds of us finding it in a bunch of garbage?""I thought I lost it.
I never thought I'd get it back. It's just exciting."Lucy still bowls with her rings on, but she says that she’ll now take extra precautions."It looks great. I'll have it cleaned and soldered. Make sure I never lose it again."
